Bartering is not the main stream path, but I have had many good experiences with it so I continue to offer piano lessons for barter. I offer barter opportunities to help open the door for some students who may be on the fence about making a commitment to learning piano and need some kind of easy way to get started. There is no short road to mastering something as complex and beautiful as the piano so I do not mind some kind of barter in the beginning to get things started as a way to encourage students, but of course I prefer cash. My normal rates are 40/half hour, 60/fourty five minutes, and 75/hour. I also offer discounts and incentives if you sign up for multiple lessons.
